Posted April 28, 2024

The following notice was received from Workplace Hazardous Materials Bureau...

Dear stakeholders,

We are writing to advise you of recent changes to the leadership of the Workplace Hazardous Products Program at Health Canada.

Lynn Berndt-Weis, formerly Director of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Bureau, has taken on directorship of another organization within the Consumer Product Safety Program, focusing on risk assessment, product testing, triage and surveillance, and external relations.

We sincerely thank Lynn for her unwavering commitment and professionalism with which she championed and delivered pivotal modernizations to the Workplace Hazardous Products Program. This included launching new online tools and strengthening stakeholder engagement to increase transparency, as well as revising the confidential business information claims process to provide greater program efficiency. We wish Lynn well in her new role.

We are very pleased to announce that Luisa Wang is now assuming leadership of the Workplace Hazardous Products Program.

Luisa brings a depth and breadth of experience in horizontal policy and economic analysis, and has already engaged on many of the Program’s files in her previous capacity as Director of the Strategic Policy Division within the Consumer and Hazardous Products Safety Directorate. Luisa’s strengths in policy development, strategic thinking, and innovation will help continue to advance important modernizations for the Program. Luisa is a supportive and empathetic leader who is invested in the Program’s success.

We recognize that any change in leadership is significant to an organization. However, we can assure you that the Program remains under excellent care and leadership throughout this transition under Dennis Price, Director General of the Consumer and Hazardous Products Safety Directorate. Thank you for your continued collaboration and engagement in support of worker protection and hazard communication.

As always, we invite you to reach out with any questions or concerns. Our contact information remains the same: [email protected].

Sincerely,
Workplace Hazardous Materials Bureau
